Well! now that Mallog has brought us air-heads back down to earth with a bump.

Lets think sensinbly. If the Moderators were to plan somthing it would all fall on the shoulders of one, or at best, two of them. Geography does get in the way of business planning.

A proper badge or pin which we could wear all the time (if so inclined!) could be purchased as part of joining TalkingScot. Not compulsory though. Most of the income going to production costs but a reasonable slice going to support the site and fund improvements - although I can't think of any I'd like !

No names but if a plain bar was left along the bottom we could have it engraved ourselves

Could we have a poll to see how many folk would go with the idea.
My Johnstone and Ayrshire neighbours appear to want tus here on the West coast to lead the business market.

Now there is an interesting thought given the problems with paper sizes...

Are USA Doohickies the same size as UK thingmabobs?

From an old formula from my schooldays, I think this is it:-

A doohicky = 2 x thingmabobs divided by the sum of the sides of the doohicky divided by the square root of the thingmabob

No Jean

that's the Pythongarus Theorem
It gets you all wrapped up then squeezes the life interest out of you! :(

It certainly did me at school half a century ago.

Thingamybobs are variable and have rounded corners. Doohickies are jaggy and catch you unawares.

Can't use either of them just NOT Scottish :?

Ok ok ok.....I'm back. Thanks to Annette (nelmit) there is an image uploaded in the gallery that she claims will print off your own computer so you can make your own handy dandy name badge. (I have to laugh everytime we say badge as all I can think of is Dame Edna....and "give me the badge Madge".... )

Ok...no more jokes!!!

Lookey here and see if you UK folks can make yourself a name tag for your visits to the local research hangout.

http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... p?pos=-653

Nelmit tells me you can type your name right on them before printing but so far my US computer is not playing fair and wants to make a whole page of small ones  ....must keep playing with it. :? I'd be so pleased to wear one when I visit Edinburgh in September! :D and maybe even meet some people I already know!

Best wishes
Jean

In response to Russell I am quite happy to print out the girls "badge" for identification purposes !! A small pin (without name please) was just a suggestion for fund-raising purposes. Nothing commercial about me  !!!
