The Scene
New Register House, Edinburgh, of a normal weekday morning.
The Time: 09:05 am BST or GMT ....
The public desk staff are in the middle of dealing with the day's researchers, when it dawns on them that one-third/one-half/one-quarter of the researchers [pick your proportion] are wearing this curious wee badge with a pair of shaking hands superimposed on what looks like a map of Scotland with, quite amazing, Orkney and Shetland in the right place, and words which the sharpest eyed of them makes out as "TalkingScot".
Out of the question?, - maybes aye, maybe nos, but from the number of registered members who declare that they are regularly in at NRH, and registered and unregistered members who don't publicize that fact, I wouldn't be surprised
I've often wondered how many TS members are in NRH when I am, but, and here's the downside, I'm most often in a situation where I'm under pressure of time to do as much as I can in the available 7 and a half hours.
Soooo...... tongue very much in cheek,...... maybe the TS badge needs wan o' they wee windae thingies wi a wee slide thingy, ken, which has the alternates "I am free for lunch/I am working through lunch", wi mebbae anithir wee windae thingamajiggery "Mines a hauf 'n' a hauf/diet Pepsi"
