Good ol' GR!!

Post by annpa » Tue Sep 30, 2008 12:27 am

I've been a member of Genes Reunited for nearly as long as they have existed, and put my husband's tree on the site first. Then added my mother's side of the family and had a fair number of connections from relatives bent on the same mission. Eventually my father's side went on and shortly after that I had a message from a young man saying : my grandfather thinks you might be his first cousin. and he was!!.

This Saturday I'm going to join the family at his 80th birthday party. we last saw each other about 60 years ago!! I was only 2 or 3 at the time so I don't remember him, although he remembers me as a babe in arms. I am vastly changed now! but how I'm looking forward to this!

Cheers

This sounds to be another good story for this site and GR

Whilst a "babe" then in your relation's memory, only you know if, in your mindset, you are still a "babe".

Enjoy the moments that are being given to you by these revived connections, they are worth every second. minute, hour and day......

I had an absolutely wonderful time on Saturday. seeing my 80 yr old cousin again. I don't remember him, I was too small, but he thinks I am somewhat changed from when he last saw me as a "babe in arms" !!.

Wonderful too to meet a huge new family and to feel absolutely at home with them all. They were all so welcoming.

I'd printed out a family tree and some photos, some new and some old black and whites. that was interesting.

Thanks for all your kind interest and best wishes.
