Early Christmas Present!

Post by DysartPete » Tue Nov 15, 2005 8:31 am

:D
What a lovely message to wake up to!! I logged on to Genes Reunited and got this.... talk about 'gobsmacked'....
From : ********
Subject : Re - Charlotte Shand

Hi Peter,

My grandad - Archibald Shand b.1906- was your grandad's brother. Your grandad would be Peter Shand married to Euphemia Reid.

My father - ***** Whyte - has been investigating the family tree for many years now and has 2578 names spanning 10 generations going back to Alexander Shand and Christian Rintoul married 1st December 1759 in Auchtertool Fife.
If you contact him you could help him with some blanks and he could pass on some of his records to you.

His phone number is ************

Best regards
******* Mackie
I'm like wee boy a Christmas!!.... :) :D

Just goes to show the potential value of a "guid Google" to see if anyone else is researching the same lines :!: \:D/

Sometimes, as in this case, you may strike an absolute seam of gold, - other times, as happened to me a couple of years back, you might re-establish contact with a first cousin whom you hadn't spoken to for over 30 years !!

Hi Pete
Ach, just go for it!!
I'm sure it will be fascinating - and if its a disaster (which I'm sure it won't be), then you just need to think of it as a "learning experience"!

Best wishes
