I have just spent the day at NRH & I wish I could say that I found all my lost rellies but no !
I found a few fascinating facts which have created more questions than answers but!!!!!!!!!
1Found my own Birth was wrongly indexed(christian name misspelledonthe Index.-It'sbeing changed
2Found my Great-Grandpa's sister's Death Certificate had the wrong parents names on it & they are creating a RCE for it.It was exciting tohave somebody come & see what I had discovered & for them to act on it there & then!-shows you that what is there may not be 100% accurate even when it'sa closerellie reporting it.
3Found some sad facts like my GGGRandfather was blind by the 1871 Census& that his wife had died before 1855& that there was only one child
& his Mother was enumerated with him&under her maiden name& there may be a Poor Law Record for her-in Glasgow!
I have decided to give up on my Waddells for the moment-decidedthat they don't want tobe found just now!!!!
4Found another Poorhouse Death for another rellie & in Glasgow
So my next visit willbe at the Mitchell.
Didnt find what I was looking for

Hello Joette
Its sounds an interesting day despite not finding lost relatives. I only wish i had the time to go to Edinburgh. The only time i did it was only for an hour and not for research not family anyway!
Like you, my birth is supposedly entered twice due to spelling mistakes but i havnt bothered checking it as i know when i was born !
Hope your niece enjoyed the day ( i think i saw you post saying she was going with you )
Happy hunting at The Mitchell
Tracey
ps i dont know what part of Middlesex you are but you missed the mad hailstones in London today !
