Good solid site

Post by b1b2j3 » Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:23 pm

In my dotage <just kiddin> ... start again.. In my genealogical dotage, I'm really quite pleased with the quality of responses I have receceived over a very short week of ageing, genealogically speaking. I hope I can add to this TalkingScots with, good solid evidence that / which will assist others.

Hi Bron

We're delighted that you have had help from the TS site. We also appreciate your willingness to help others as and when the occasion to do so arises.

Best wishes

Catriona

Hi Bron

I have surfed quite a few over the last couple of years and TS is by far the best in the openness and generosity of all the contributors.
I have found it just as much fun to give as to get info back. I think you'll find that's the prevalent feeling on here.
There's not another site with the range of talents for seeking out names, dates, family connections as we have on here. I'll not embarass them by naming names but they are the tops. Plus they share with you how they reached their conclusions.
Glad you have aged genealogically. These ancestors were elusive and secretive sometimes BUT We can find them

Am nae sure whit's happened there, but, (for those unfamiliar with the idiom, that's a "Glaswegian" but) as, after 250 posts it should have gone in the post to you automatically, but (and that's an ordinary but!) then Ah've heard tell there's a humour filter that notes posts with humour and applies a penalty of a deduction of 10 "units" from an individual member's count of posts for every humourous post ..........

From whit Ah've heard about your current status, - the rumours are always flying aboot on this site, ken (that's Dundonian), but (normal) only in the Moderator and Admin areas (invisible to those without such an exalted status  ) - your own qualifying figure is currently heavily negative, but (Glaswegian).

David

PS 'n' if you believe that, you really did come up the Clyde on a Banana boat :- \:D/ ..... see http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 9&start=30 , especially for anyone who (a) hasn't read that thread, and/or (b) hasn't previously been exposed to, or doesn't understand (West of) of Scotland humour :!: In either case, an urgent study of the Stanley Baxter's Parliamo Glasgow books is urgently recommended, along with the published (books/videos/CDs) works of many other West of Scotland humourists/comedians, such as Francie 'n' Josie (Rikki Fulton and Jack Milroy - see http://www.firstfoot.com/Great%20Scot/rikkifulton.htm as one of many sites), not least my all time hero, - Chic Murray, - use the search facility on this site for just a few of his "bon mots" ............

Aye weel Russell

Hmmmm....... I'm not sure if butt is an allowable word on this site, but. But is, but

BTW, I shudder to think of how negative my score is #-o

Enough of this banter, - I need to get back to the World Cup (hockey, or field hockey as some members of this DG might know it..........)
