Thanks to all!

Well, we have sadly left Scotland :( and are down in London now and will soon take the ferry back to France. Thanks to all who made our visit memorable! Especially to David for help at NRH, Russell for interesting lunchtime conversation at the Mitchell (sorry to miss Jack, but didn’t find out he’d be there until I got back!) and Archiver for help in Aberdeen (including brilliant pub recommendations!). We’ll be back again soon, I’m sure! My husband, although he (so far as we know) doesn’t have a Scottish drop of blood in his veins, was completely won over by the Highland scenery and is already talking about the next trip  8)

Now I just have to digest what I found and try to make some sense of it :?
Cheers [cheers] :D

Hi Sarah

Good to have you back on-line.
I enjoyed my day meeting you and your other half albeit briefly.
Now I find out I missed Jack though. That's a pity. I think we should all wear a large TS name badge. Needs to be large for bespectacled folk like me.

I hope that your Smiley(s) with beer glasses doesn't indicate that you were introduced to the local beer while you were in Aberdeen. Shame on you Archiver if that's the case :D

Ummm... what's wrong with the Aberdeen beer? Seemed fine to me

By the way, this Quaker girl got introduced to some high-class whisky at the home of the 3rd cousin  Not bad, I have to say 8) (just don't tell my 7th great grandfather)

Aaahh :!:

The gentleman who came in, looked at one film, jotted down his notes then popped the film back on the shelves again before heading off purposefully.

Now I know who to look out for :!:

I think I could do with a T-shirt with TalkingScot printed on the back.

For anyone who has not been to the Mitchell don't go overdressed. It is warm. Peel off layers as required.

Of course that's the case! If anyone goes to the city centre branch of the archives in Aberdeen, you can see 3 pubs from the front door, with 6 others nearby - it seems a shame not to go to any of them...;)

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself Sarah! It was great meeting you - and thank you for all your help for me!

Sarah, you missed the Beer festival here that happened last week. Not that I went to it. I'm not much of a beer drinker more of a whiskey and mead drinker.

Archiver, Every where you go in Aberdeen there is nearly always a pub on the street corner. :)

Hello,

No, it's in the Town House, on the corner of Union Street and Broad Street. The website address is the longest in the world! You can try www.aberdeencity.gov.uk and go to the A-Z, clicking on A and scrolling to Archives. However, here is the homepage:

http://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/ACCI/web ... id=m101205

They can be emailed at this address: archives at aberdeencity dot gov dot uk
