Special Commendations

Post by DavidWW » Thu Apr 28, 2005 11:15 pm

Hi All

TalkingScot has now been on the go for approaching 5 months, and I trust that you would agree that TS is a considerable success.

That success is down to a wide range of members and their contributions and assistance to other posters, - never mind the original organisers, - put them out of your mind for the moment :!:

Which leads to a very simple question, - who do you think deserves a particular commendation amongst the members of TalkingScot in terms of their contributions to date? Answers, please!

If you feel happier responding via email, then please contact me on 106200.1510@compuserve.com .

I look forward to hearing from you!

Davie

Jack, You and Sporran, Ian and a good few of the fairer gender who are using up personal credits to others' benefit !

By and large, no, let's not mince words..... This is the best resource "sounding board" of its type ANYWHERE.
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).

Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

Hi Andy,

I'm also throwing your name into the hat. You certainly have put a lot of time and effort into helping others on this wonderful board.

I think Marilyn with her ideas for spreading the TS name should be mentioned. As to people who have knocked some brickwalls loose and in many cases down, there's Jack,Andy, Bob G.,Jean Jeanie,Ina and Anne. All should get a hand for a job well done.

Andy, Davie, Jack and Sporran(alphabetically) especially, but in all honesty, I have found that if anyone can help, then they will.

A more generous bunch of folk you couldn't meet.

I'd like to add IanS along with Andy, Davie, Jack, & Sporran.

Will also second what Andy said about TS.
There is a very friendly atmosphere on this DG.

Kind regards to all,

Alison :D

I agree with all the names and comments mentioned above especially Sporran.

We all have access to different resources which makes it easier for some people to answer certain queries over others so all in all I think we make a pretty good team.

However, if I have to choose one name I think it would have to be Jack for all those old census look ups.
The road between his house and 'The Mitchell' must be pretty worn through!

I also agree with all those already mentioned especially Sporran, in my case who went well beyond my expectations to help solve my brick wall.

Hi All,

Awfy embarrassed to see my name included - there are very many who are assisting or advising in one way or another all the time. It's thanks to those good members that makes TS such a helpful group.
I'm just fortunate that The Mitchell is only half an hour away on the bus. Not everyone has this great library on their "doorstep" - that's why i try to help out with the earlier local censuses whenever possible, but soon they'll all be online.

I must know every pot-hole on the road Annette! - and the good news is i get my free bus pass next month :D
