Don't give up!

Post by Rach » Wed Apr 04, 2007 6:41 pm

I know several people on T.S. have ancestors like my lot in my posting 'Piece by piece like a difficult jigsaw' where they appear under so many different surnames and spellings of such. The more difficult they appear to be the more you want to find them.
Do you think that they can turn your searches off and on  :!:
After finding them in November 06 in the 1861 Census under the surname of Clain I was euphoric. Now I'll find them in 1871, I thought. I tried every permutation of names that have shown up on certificates but had no luck. Then last night as I still had some credits left on Ancestry I tried again and there they were [woohoo] [woohoo]. This time their surname was McLean. I went straight over to S.P. and now have the copy.
Yes, I had tried that surname over the last 4 months but with no luck so where were they hiding?
I am so, so pleased to have found them again...........now for the 1851 Census. Mmmmm! that might take even longer.

Hi Rae

Good for you. You must be reallly happy. I know the feeling. Like you said Genealogy is like a great big jig saw puzzle. You try to get the pieces to fit, but you know that you can't force them. Then one day a piece fits right in.

Cheers
