Mariners death - John Campbell

Post by clancam » Sun Sep 15, 2013 7:52 am

Hullo,
How can I find the place and date of death of my GGF, John Campbell
born 1826 Perthshire, Scotland. He went to sea at an early age eventually earning the rank of
Master Mariner at Dundee in 1854.
His ship "The Duke" ON15028 was sunk in the West Indies January 1867, all the crew survived.
He received a replacement Masters certificate at Liverpool England in September 1867
and last mentioned as far as I know on the 1871 UK Census living at Liverpool
with his family.
His family migrated to Australia, he did not come with them.
I have records of all family members except his.
Can anyone help.
Kind regards
clancam
