William McKnight - Merchant Seaman 1874-1891

Post by darylrodger » Sun Jan 14, 2018 6:30 pm

I'm trying to find info relating to William McKnight, who was a merchant seaman according to his marriage & son's birth certs.
He was married to Elizabeth McDowall in 1874, and can't find a death for him from 1881 (when he was in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire)
until 1891 when in the Scottish 1891 census it states his wife as a widow.

I've tried searching the electoral registers, as their address was 18 Soho St. in Camlachie for 1891, but can only find his wife there in 1898, 1900 & 1904.

Any ideas where to look next ?

Hello Daryl, Speculated a birth date of 1854, 5yrs either way on FMP and the following came up: W.McKnight ''death at sea'' on the vessel Belini 1881 departshire Port, Glasgow. Could be him?
