Hello all.
Its been a while since I've had any time for my tree, but this time around I'm looking for info on the above c1955-59, for my husband's cousin.
She would like to know where any records are held. We can't find anything on the internet about it. Presumably its long closed or changed its name.
Any info appreciated.
Regards,
Cathy.

Re: Hermitage Children's Home, Helensburgh
Hello Cathy,
I couldn’t find anything for a Hermitage Children’s Home. Any chance it was Lagarie Children’s Home at Rhu?
“Lagarie House was a family home up until the 1950s, when it became a children's home, before being bought by developers in 1983 and converted into four flats.” http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/smgpubs/acc ... atl=google
Perhaps they went to Hermitage School? It doesn’t seem to be very far away.
It seems to be something to do with the children of sailors, and there’s a not very nice report about the place here.

Just guessing,
Alan

New line of enquiry.
We now think it was BLOOMHILL Children's Home, CARDROSS.
I have sent her the Argyll & Bute link, but does anyone have any info on this c1958-9?
Regards,
Cathy.

Hello Cathy,
There’s an interesting story about it in the Glasgow Herald in 1953. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=d0 ... ross&hl=en
It’s probably worth a browse through these other items to see if there’s anything of interest. http://www.google.com/search?pz=1&cf=al ... 80&bih=841
All the best,
Alan
