Late 19th / Early 20th Century Prison Records

Good morning all,

I've been trying to find out who holds the above, but to no avail. Are they held in the National Records, held locally etc? If anyone could advise it would be greatly appreciated as I have some extensive searching to do!

I have a relative who I believe was taking a court-mandated holiday at Castle Hill, Inverness around 1891 and from family stories I believe he may have been in and out of prison for most of his adult life - if I could track him down and prove his travels through the years it would be a massive success; I believe the prison records are the key to doing so!
Interested in: McGillivray (Moray and Aberdeenshire), Alexander (Moray and Aberdeenshire), Strathdee (Moray and Banffshire), Williamson (Moray and Ross-shire) among others.
