I get the picture now. It’s a shame to see nice old buildings replaced by concrete blockhouses, but I suppose that’s progress, or so they say.

Further to my entry about the location of 65 Kelvinside Gardens I have been told that it was North Bank nursing home, but was originally built
as the home of the owners of C & A The department store. I don,t know how this information was obtained

The 1913-1914 valuation roll - see http://www.theglasgowstory.com/imagevie ... =TGSV25100 - shows Northbank as being owned by the Trustees of Dr Joseph M Taylor, per William J Taylor & Cameron, 163 Hope Street, Glasgow.
So far I have found no connection between brothers Clemens and August Brenninkmeyer (or Brenninkmeijer), the founders of C&A and North Bank. See http://www.c-and-a.com/aboutUs/company/history/ for a short history of their company.
