Iknow i have asked this question before. Why is St Marys Industrial School
not on the 1881 census, just hoping someone will be able to help with this

Have you checked whether it was a residential establishment or only day attendance?

That's the only reason I can see for no census returns. They were looking at who slept under which roof on the night in question.

Hi Maceill

Just realised I have not got a St Mary's Industrial School on my list under orphanages etc. do you have any more information about it - like - where it was; when it was active; who ran it ???

If you know the name of the man in charge have you tried to find him on the census because many of the homes and institutions provided residential accommodation for their senior staff at least.
If you find him you may find the list of children/young people too.

Send me a Personal Message if you do have additional info and I'll add it to the orphanages post.
