I've never checked Paisley poorhouse records before but I should be able to have a look tomorrow.
I have a feeling you have to phone first. Jack will be able to tell us the system.

Re: Paisley burgh poorhouse- lookup
Hi Fiona and Annette,
The Abbey & Paisley Poor House name indexes are held at the Paisley Reference Library on the High St.
They retain quite a number of the books showing the applications there too - but not all.
Because there are a lot of books, many have to be kept in storage outwith the Library,
and if the name you want is one of those books it needs to be ordered in (sometimes takes a week or so).
They are often about 18" high, 15" wide, 4" thick (large volumes!)
So firstly contact Local Studies at the Reference Library with as much details as you have on the person.
They staff are very helpful, and will do their utmost to find a record.
But sometimes, even though a person dies in the PH, there isn't a record - and not all books have survived.
Also some records have very little detail, but others are full of family info (it's just pure luck on what you get).
Unfortunately photocopying isn't allowed - they don't have proper facilities,
though with permission you are allowed to photograph the pages.
If a record can be found they will try and type it out for you if you can't call in person.
Some of the pages though can be rather difficult to read (different inks, pencil, small or poor writing etc).
This is the Renfrewshire Home Page.

Select Libraries on left hand column, then select Local and Family History.
This now shows the email & snail mail addresses etc.

Fingers crossed!
