Re: ST KENTIGERNS CEMETERY.....
Hello Dennis,
And a very Happy New Year to you.
Dungoyne Street Glasgow is a very short one and appears to have a 90 degree bend in the middle. No. 6 looks to be the one with white gravel for a front garden. http://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&hl=en&i ... .9,,0,0.53
This looks like the main entrance to the cemetery, it’s a bit over a mile, as the crow flies, to the east of Dungoyne Street.
http://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&hl=en&i ... 26,,0,7.64
There’s a St Mary’s Roman Catholic school about 300 yards (crow flies wise), just a short walk, south of Dungoyne Street. http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/27 ... ry+school/
All the best,
Alan

Re: ST KENTIGERNS CEMETERY.....
Alan's link showing the 'entrance' gates is actually the original entrance to Lambhill Cemetery.
There are 3 huge cemeteries all together there - the Western Necropolis, Lambhill and St. Kentigern's. (Garnethill Hebrew Burial Ground is also there, next to the Crematorium)
I have a Section Map of St. Kentigern's, but I've just got a new laptop and I'm still struggling to 'get the hang' of it, so once I work out how the bloomin' thing works, I'll attempt to either add an image or get in touch via PM.
On the link above (of the 'entrance'), zoom out, choose 'satellite view' - making sure the 'show labels' box is ticked, and St. Kentigern's will show 'under' Lambhill Cemetery and to the right of Glasgow Crematorium and the Western Necropolis.
All these places are accesed from Tresta Road and not Balmore Road (just to make life that little bit more complicated!!)

Re: ST KENTIGERNS CEMETERY.....
Hi Alan,
I tried to find a valid email for the Immaculate Conception Church, where the High Mass was held, but the two addresses came back as undeliverable; the school St. Mary's looks to be no more and I could find no email for it.
regards. dennis

Hello Dennis,
Was this the one you tried for the church?
http://www.rcag.org.uk/parishes_immacul ... eption.htm
If it keeps bouncing try one of the others in the group and see if they have the current email address http://www.stpatsanderston.org.uk/4.html
Would all teachers in Catholic primary schools in Glasgow prior to the 1950’s have been Nuns or were there civilians as well?
Try this one for the school.

I'm thinking that she wasn't a nun, based on the lack of reference to her not being reffered to as a 'Sister' in the Glasgow Herald obit.Currie wrote:Hello Dennis,

If anyone wants a copy of S. Kentigern's Section Map, PM me with personal e-mail addresses and I'll send one through.

Hello Anne,
I would love a copy of St Kentigerns Cemetery sections but I can't see the facility to send a PM on your posting.

Re: ST KENTIGERNS CEMETERY.....
I recently posted a 'marked-up' aerial view of St. Kentigern's on Rootschat as well as one showing where the entrances are.
Have a look here: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.ph ... msg3711526
If copying the image from this doesn't work, send me a PM and I'll send you a copy.
