Thomas McAndrew buried St Kentigern's Glasgow

Post by Carole » Mon Jan 10, 2011 8:50 pm

My Great Grandfather, Thomas McAndrew died 17th May 1891 in Glasgow and is, according to the RCE on his death certificate, buried in St Kentigern Cemetery.

I'm told that the Mitchell has the Burial Records for St. Kentigern’s on microfilm. I'm not local, so if someone is visiting the Mitchell and has the time to look Thomas up for me, I'd be very grateful.

Hi Carole,

I was just having a look through some oldish posts and noticed your message had gone unanswered.

Did you get any further in finding out about your Gt Gt Grandfather's burial location?

The staff at the Mitchell will do look ups for you if you drop them a wee e-mail, although I think you might have to wait a couple of weeks for them to get back to you.

Family History Centre, Level 3, The Mitchell Library, North Street, Glasgow G3 7DN
Tel: 0141 287 2937/2988
E-mail: libraries@glasgowlife.org.uk

Once you get the details of where he's buried, it'll be a lot easier for any locals to pop along and see if they can find the grave - St. Kentigern's is a big cemetery!

Many thanks Anne. I've sent a request off to the Mitchell at the address you gave me. I'm getting closer, slowly but surely!
