Hi,
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.
I'm trying to locate an ancestor of my hubby's named William Rodger who died on 29th Sept 1880 in 344 Crown St, Gorbals. Am I right in thinking he would have been buried
in the Southern Necropolis ? Would the Mitchell have burial/internment records ?
Regards,
Daryl

Hi Daryl:
Someone with more knowledge than I have, will be along soon; but in the meantime, if you click on the Search button on the upper right of this page, below the TalkingScot header, you will be shown a search screen.
In the 'search for keywords' line, enter Southern Necropolis
Scroll down toward the bottom of the page and click on Search
You will see ready answers, that may be of help to you in narrowing down your approach to finding what you are searching.

The Southern Necropolis is the nearest Cemetery to that address and yes the Mitchell do have some of the Burial Records on Microfiche.
Unfortunately it is not possible to say with 100% certainty that because Person A lived and died in a certain area that they would be buried in Cemetery B. Religion and family tradition played a large part as did the personal preferences in respect of Burial or Cremation

The Southern Necropolis is in the cemetery list here http://www.memento-mori.co.uk/ It has names listed, but I don't know if that is necessarily a complete list of every grave in the cemetery. Worth a look though; you can just search down the surnames. It lists names, age at death and whether the person died in the war.
