Poor burials in Neilston, RFW

Post by KittyKat » Fri Feb 19, 2016 3:42 pm

Does anyone have an idea where a "pauper" would have been buried who died in Neilston, RFW? She was listed as protestant in poorhouse records. Her name was Caroline Reid (b 1848) and she died at Andrews Land boarding house in Neilston on 15 Feb 1881. Thanks for reading!

The most likely place is probably in an unmarked area of the Neilston Cemetery which is located on the road down to Barrhead - This opened in 1875 to replace the Churchyard.

East Renfrewshire Council hold the lair records for the Cemetery but they are not available online and I'm not sure if ERC would charge for a search (some councils do and others milk the market for every pound they can)
