Hi Tracey,

Is "Maryburgh" clearly written as that? So far, the only Maryburgh that I have found is just south of Dingwall, Ross & Cromarty - a long way from Kilmallie.

All the best,

Hi Andrew,
You're up late!
According to an old 1842 gazetteer there is a Maryburgh village in Kilmallie Parish, Inverness.

Hi Tracey,

Googling for Maryburgh and Kilmallie gives various webpages that imply that Maryburgh has now been absorbed into Fort William.

To see Maryburgh on a map, go to http://www.nls.uk/digitallibrary/map/early/506.html and click on the "top section" map. Just to the left of the map name "Northern Part of Argyllhire" is Fort William, with Maryburgh immediately south of it (in the Inverness-shire part of Kilmallie parish).

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

While searching for one of mine ,there is a Maryburgh shown just south of Dingwall.
Try this link, then go to Ross and Cromarty,Dingwall is towards top right.
