Christina Anderson Lundie was born on 23 March 1874.
1881 census - aged 6 with grandmother
1891 census - aged 17 - Dundee Orphanage - pupil teacher
1901 census - aged 26 - tablemaid in Glasgow.
1911 census - ????
In March 1910 she was one of the signatories to the petition of the three daughters of her cousin to be taken into the Dundee Orphanage. Her address is given as Drumnacree, Alyth.
Is there any way that I can check who was resident at Drumnacree in 1911?
Regards
Christine.

Re: Christina Anderson Lundie - 1911 census
Hello Christine,
Drumnacree was owned by Captain Robert Scott Hunter who died 1896, his widow Clara Maria Middleton died there 1910 age 74. Maybe some of the Hunter kids are still there in 1911.
According to The Scotsman a James Miller Hardie, late pharmaceutical chemist, Dundee, died there on 9th May, 1911 age 55. I think the census was on 2nd April, maybe he was there then.
Is Drumnacree a house or a place?
Alan

Re: Christina Anderson Lundie - 1911 census
Hi Alan, thanks for the information. (How did you find it? - I put Drumnacree into Google & came up with holiday homes & hotels!!)
I will check out the names you have given me in the 1911 census and - who knows -maybe Christina will still be there.
I am presuming Drumnacree is a house. On the Dundee Orphan Institution form the Peitioners' name & residence is asked for and Christina has given hers as Drumnacree Alyth.
Alyth is not a large place, in fact I had an aunt who lived in Alyth & a great aunt who lived New Alyth just along the road. Maybe I passed the house in the 40s/50s & 60s.......
Regards
Christine.

Re: Christina Anderson Lundie - 1911 census
Back again Alan.
I checked out the 1911 census James Hardie wasn't in Alyth at that time.
I checked out the 1901 census for Clara Hunter. She is at Drumnacree, St Andrew Street, Alyth together with Christina Lundie -aged 48! Another Lundie daughter to Robert & Jean that I didn't know about. (I recently found Mary). The Christina Lundie I was looking for was born in 1874, so would be about 26/27in 1901. Hopefully the one I have in Glasgow in 1901 at that age really is "my" Christina.
Thanks for you help Alan, I will continue looking for Christina in the 1911 census - maybe something will turn up. Christina's full name is Christina Anderson Lundie - I even tried under "Anderson"!
Regards

Re: Christina Anderson Lundie - 1911 census
That's ok Christine,
It looks like one of the Lundie girls was at Drumnacree in 1898. In the Dundee Courier, Saturday, August 20, 1898, there’s an item about the 42nd annual gathering of the Glenisla Highland and Friendly Society at Fortar Haugh. There’s a very long list of some of the people who attended and among them is a Miss Lundie, Drumnacree.
All the best,
Alan

Christine, you can go down this track viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15443&hilit=
When you get in select the 19th Century lot and just put Lundie Drumnacree in the search box and it should take you straight there. Magnify the image to a bigger size and do the right click, save as, thing if you want a copy. If you have any problems I’ll chase it up tomorrow.
The Demo isn’t necessarily a permanent thing. You can otherwise get to the 19th Century newspapers from home by registering with the National Library of Scotland, although I’m not sure whether they subscribe to Part 2 which includes the Dundee paper. https://auth.nls.uk/ldc/browse.cfm?by=subject&sid=99
You could check your local library to see if they subscribe. There is a pay site, but they still don’t have Dundee. http://newspapers.bl.uk/blcs/
