Hi,
I've been trying to track down Agnes Ross in the 1911 census. She is a widow and at the time of her death on 10th Nov 1915 she was in Woodilee Asylum, Lenzie, Dunbarton. If she had been there in 1911 wold there be a record on SP?
Her maiden name was Wilson.
As always any info would be much appreciated.

Re: 1911 Census and Asylums
Hi Lizzie,
Asylums, hospitals, poorhouses and the like were all enumerated in the censuses. Unfortunately many asylums did not give their patients' names, but only their initials. If that is how Woodilee was enumerated that way, then the chances of you tracing anyone with any amount of certainty are very small.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi Lizzie,
I have had a look at the 1911 census for Woodilee and can tell you that the patients are listed by their names, not just initials. Woodilee comes under Kirkintilloch registration district (Dunbartonshire), enumeration district 20.
All the best,
AndrewP

I see Maureen directed you to the archives http://www.archives.gla.ac.uk/gghb/collects/hb30.html in your other post. If you email them they will send you a copy of her hospital record.

Annette

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your info. I'd forgotten I'd already asked for help on this subject
I still can't find her despite trying all variations of the name Agnes, even tried her maiden name.
Oh well another mystery!
Will try for the records and see if that helps, thanks for that Annette.
Now, have another query re the death of one of her sons but I will post that elsewhere
