Hi Jan
sadly when i use Family Search , the country box wont let me put a country in , and it wont search without one , it keeps saying select a region

You need to select Region first > choose British Isles then you can choose a country: Scotland, England etc....

Best wishes
Lesley

hi lesley
its defiantely not the first one , i have searched all that one right through ,
that one has a Sister ,and he didnt ,
it wasnt his real Mother who placed him in the Poor house ,it was the Stewarts
not sure what happened to his real Mother ? so it seems Stewart doesnt show up till his Marriage 1891 in Glasgow ,

this one has his Father as Charles , think he died around 1873 , the Mother before that , they also had a child in 1866 ,
well we dont know exactly who his real dad was , so Charles was the adopted one ,
but again the real Father could be a Charles as well ,

Jan
Can you please tell us what it says on the birth entry;
What is the name of the father - Charles What?
What is the occupation of the father?
What is the name of the mother?
Is a marriage date given?

Best wishes

According to the 1901 census James was born at Glasgow in 1871.

My first instinct was the Calton birth too.

Annette

i really dont know much apart from whats on the marriage and death certs ,
i have went through a lot of James Camerons and found he either had wrong Mother ,or some else wasnt right ,
i know he lived in the Poor House in Glasgow and thats about it ,i cant put an age to him , as he was always an old man to me and died when i was 7 ,
my Brother remembers an older Cousin ,probably knowing he was telling something he knew he would have told not to pass on , the Granda was adopted , byt a Man called it was Charles , but my Brother thought Charles Andrew Stewart , there are big gaps between us all , and in our house , unmarried Mothers wasnt discussed EVER ,

well yes ,
what i thought was take it from what you know , and thats where i have gone back to ,
remembering , if someone is in a Orphange , Poor house , would they make a mistake of 3 years in someones age ,? months maybe 3 years ,doubtful , after all back then i would think they were working at 13
and would hardly put a child of 10 out to work ,thinking he was 13 ,
but going by mistakes , you should see the one on my Grans death cert ,
she is down as 73 , yes born 1872, died Dec 1951 ,
maybe counting wasnt a strong point back then ,
but when you look at marriage saying 21 , 1901 census saying 31 , hes assumed he was born 1870
