Was the content of the RCE typed on the back of the certificate for you?

Hi Tracey,

Yes, you have a pucker RCE. Maybe now they have been filmed, that is what is being sent out.

The wording was quite consistent in the paternity RCEs and was of the following form.
  • Register of Corrected Entries for the _______ of _______ in the County of ______

In the Fourth Column of Entry No. __ in the Register Book of Births for the year ____, before the name of the Child's mother, insert _____ __________, _____, on the authority of a Certificate in the Form of Schedule F to the following effect,

In an action relating to the Paternity of a Male child, born at ____ in the Parish of _______ in the County of ______, on the __ day of ____ ____ at the instance of ______ ________, _________, _______, Parish of _______, against _____ _________, _____, residing at ________, ______, the Sheriff Substitute of _________ on the __ day of _________ ____, found that the said child was the illegitimate child of the said _______ ________ and _____ _________.

    __ ________ ____ at ________.
    _ _ ________
    Registrar

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Don't necessarily think so, as the digitisation programme for the RCEs was probably complete well before that ..... but, as Andrew comments, in the case of family history related enquiries it is now this easily accessible image, - for GROS staff, - that is being provided.
