That rings a bell, 'cos I remember thinking, "hmm, that's interesting, I just haven't ever come across that" and thinking it might just be me not knowing.I'm still looking forward to meeting the English expert, who in his short boxout on marriages up here, referred to the fact that most Scottish marriages involved a "hamfest". ... the publication in question doesn't happen to contain the letters FYT (rearrange these letters) in its title does it? I will understand it you can't for er, legal reasons, reply to this!!!
Will check out Abe books for the book you mention. Its amazing what you can pick up there. I recently easily found (I had several to choose from) a copy of "This Small World of Mine" by Sir Hector Livingstone Duff (a second cousin many times removed who I'd only just found out about) It was a first edition from 1936, in OK condition & only cost a tenner - including the postage. Impressive. (Its quite an amusing book too - not as dull as I'd feared.)
Best wishes
