In ScotlandsPeople, I have a saved image for the death of Lucy Hope in 1907. On the image, the heading says "1907 (Statutory registers Deaths 768/0 10)", but the record header in my list of saved images says"1907 HOPE, LUCY (Statutory Deaths 768/00 0012)".
If I do a search today, the ref is given as 786/ 12 and if I then click on view image (paid), the heading on the image is "1907 HOPE, LUCY (Statutory registers Deaths 768/ 12)"
Has anyone else come across this discrepancy in references? As I want to reference the data in my records, what is the "correct" reference?
Also, if I download the image, the downnloaded file name is "ScotlandsPeople_D1907_768_00_0004Z" This is at odds with the above references. Why is this?

Re: SP Image reference
Hi Douglas,
For D1907_768_00_0004Z, 0004Z is the page, which at 3 records per page has records 10, 11 and 12 on it. The record number is the one that I would use myself, as that is unique to the person. The page number could refer to any of the three records.
D1907 = a death register from 1907
768/00 = a register from Peebles registration district (the 00 indicates there are no sub-districts)
0012 = record number 12 in that register (in this case the 1907 death register for Peebles)
In the filename, the 768/00 is translated to 768_00.
The image title showing "10" I think must refer to the first record on that page. I cannot see that on the pages that I have downloaded.
All the best,
AndrewP

Re: SP Image reference
Andrew
Thanks for the explanation.
On looking further, it appears that any image that I obtained on 3/9/2016 and before has a heading with the record number for the first record on the page. The images I have from 9/10/2016 and after have the correct record number in the heading.
Would these dates coincide with the switch over in SP last year?
