Hi everyone
I have from the IGI some births that look like the same person in 2 different places - same parents Alexander Kerr/Agnes Morrison - same date.
ALEXANDER KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 02 JAN 1846 Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland
2. ALEXANDER MCDONALD SANDERSON KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 02 JAN 1846 Bothkennar, Stirling, Scotland
*****
Then under batch no.8507090
these (same parents)
JOHN KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 25 OCT 1834 Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland
2. AGNES KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 05 APR 1838 Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland
3. ALEXANDER KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 02 JAN 1846 Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland
4. THOMAS KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 18 FEB 1841 Lasswade, Midlothian, Scotland
5. ARCHIBALD KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 20 APR 1850 Bothkennar, Stirling, Scotland
6. JAMES KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 19 FEB 1848 Grangemouth, Stirling, Scotland
7. WALTER KERR - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 1850 Grangemouth, Stirling, Scotland
The 1881 Bothkenner census gives Alexander Kerr (and correct family) born c1845 at Craighall, Edinburgh.
Can I assume that the Alexander born Inveresk is the correct entry and the Bothkenner entry was some kind of glitch

Hi Sylvia
I have these Kerrs in my family !
Alexander born in Inveresk in 1846 is actually a submission on IGI whereas the one born in Bothkennar is an extract, so I think are the same person. The same parents also had another Alexander born in 1853 in Falkirk with the first one still being alive in 1881 ( where his place of birth is listed as Craighall which is very near Inveresk ! )
I can find no relevance to McDonald Sanderson as middle names , although Alexander & Agnes Morrison's son James named one of his children Alexander McDonald Sanderson Kerr in 1866 , so I assume there is a connection to these names.
I have found the Kerrs very confusing as there are lots of Alexanders and Davids ! My connection is through Alexander and Agnes' 3rd son David.
I would be interested in anything which helps sort out this family .

Hi Morag
My connection is through Annie Graham Kerr (1870) who married David Jeffrey
She is the daughter of this Alexander (1846) and Ann Wilson.
I have been in contact with a couple of other researchers for this family
One through Sarah Graham Kerr (1881) and the other through Alexander Kerr (1869)
I'm like you, still trying to work them all out, though it looks as if Alexander and Agnes moved from Midlothian to Stirling between 1843 and 1846
