Hi I wonder if someone could look Dunnottar parish opr for James Freeman married to Anne Taylor 1776. I would like to know their parents
as Scotlands People does not provide them, And when James was born.
I have tried all channels but keep coming up with zilch. Hope you can help. Cheers Joxer42

Unfortunately most OPRs don't give the names of the parents of those getting married. Only very occaisionally of the ones I've seen might a father be mentioned, and if so, more often of the bride.
Once you are into the 1700s with those who were unlikely to have died after 1855 to provide you with useful information, or appear in the census returns you are in the lap of the gods, as you have already found! What survives in written records is often "pot luck". If you had an occupation for James that would be helpful as he may have carried on his father's trade or profession, which migth give you a few clues to work with. Also look at his children's names for clues as to what his parents' names might have been.
