Hi Everyone,
I'm embarassed to ask for this but I will!
If anyone is going to NRH and could do me a marriage OPR look up I'd be eternally grateful
It's for JAMES HARPER & HANNAH DOBIE in LASSWADE MIDLOTHIAN 30 NOV 1842 (Gros 691 00 0007).
I'm really stuck here until I can find out whether there is anything about James' parents on the extract and I'm unable to visit my local LDS centre at the moment. I don't expect I'll be lucky enough to have more than the essentials on it but I would like to establish what is there.
Thanks for listening!
Meg

Hello Meg,
I'm sure you will have tried this but just in case................
Searching FREECEN finds Hannah but no James Harpers in Lasswade in 1841 but quite a few in Midlothian. What was his occupation in 1851?
Perhaps you could be lucky enough to find him using that to find him with his family in 1841.
Regards,
Annette M

Annette,
Thanks for that. I'm afraid he wasn't with his family in 1841 - he was already working away from home - and by 1851 he was with his own family in Cleish. Not much to go on from censuses unless I can establish his parents for definite.
