I finally got to see what an OPR record looks like. I’d ordered a couple from LDS and was a little disappointed not to find any extra little bits of information such as parents names, etc. on the marriage records but I do have a question on an 1803 Baptismal record which reads:
Janry 20th
John Russell & Margaret Marshall, Fannyside Mills, had a child born & baptized the 20th February called William.
Jean Waddel, See_______ Page 63.
I’m assuming Jean Waddel would be a witness, but can someone tell me what I might expect to find on Page 63?
Regards,
AnneH

Hi Anne,
I assume that you are looking at the OPR of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, February 1803, where I can see the IGI entry for William Russell's baptism.
There is a Jean Waddell listed on the onlin IGI as born 6th February 1803 and baptised on 19th February 1803. This remark may be showing that Jean Waddell was listed on a page out from the date sequence of that OPR.
All the best,
Andrew Paterson

Hi Andrew,
Yes, it's Cumbernald, Dumbartonshire. Many thanks for your response...I thought for a minute I'd found another relative in Jean Waddel. Could you tell me if the date of January 20 (which was written in the middle of the lines separating the records) is the DOB for William or does that date belong to the one above and William was actually born and baptized on 20 February as it seems to read?
Regards,
AnneH
