TUDHOPE Lanarkshire 1700s .....

Hello,

Just this week, I got a new surname for my tree - TUDHOPE. It seems my 5x great grandparents were Thomas HAMILTON & Marian TUDHOPE who married in Lesmahagow, LKS on April 11, 1774. Marian (variously spelled Marcin, Marion etc.) TUDHOPE (variously spelled TUTOP, TITOP etc.) was reportedly born around 1749-53. Looking for her parents.

I am extra interested because, as a Scottish immigrant to Canada (39 years), I had no reason to think I had kin pre-existing in this country - let alone 20 miles from me! Not far from me, is the city of Orillia, Ontario & the TUDHOPE family has long been prominent there. Seems these TUDHOPEs came from Lesmahagow too! The patriarch of their branch was a George TUDHOPE born abt. 1751 Lesmahagow. He might be a good bet for a brother to my Marian. Here's hoping & thanks a lot!

We have a couple from Montana, who spend the winters here in the desert. Just recently I helped her find her Tudhopes.....from Paisley. If you think there is a connection, I can put you in touch with her.
