James Noble, Beauly, Kilmorack.....

Post by sandy » Thu Sep 14, 2006 1:00 pm

I am trying to find the parents of a James Noble believed to have been born in Beauly, Kilmorack around the 1770s. He served in the Fraser Fencibles from 1803 and joined the Gordon Highlanders, 92nd Regiment in 1799 serving until 1802. He married a Margaret McKenzie in September 1813.

He had several children and probably died around 1840. There were a couple of families with the name Noble living in Bridge End, Beauly at this time, has anyone a connection?

Hi Sandy
...and a warm welcome to Talking Scot :D

Hope someone will maybe recognise your James or have Noble connections from the area in their tree. If you know his children's names, you may be able to work out the possible names of his parents as a starting point, if they used the Scots naming pattern. See:

Best wishes

Thanks Lesley, I will check that but suspect that they did not follow the pattern, I have the names of his family, and although some are the same as the parents they do'nt think they fall in the right order. Very useful information though.
