Can any one tell me where/how I can access Deaths before 1855 in Scotland ?

There is nothing prior to 1855 that is as comprehensive as the OPRs, but there are some CDs and other materials that have been produced with more local interests.
It would be helpful if you could post at least the locale, or even the name you are searching, so those who have materials can give you further direction, or even look it up for you.
Have you checked the Wills & Testaments section on ScotlandsPeople? Not everyone had a will or testament, but it might be worth a try?

I've always been disappointed that OPR burials are not yet available on ScotlandsPeople & there doesn't seem to be any timetable for them to appear as yet. This post by LesleyB explains what is available and where in relation to OPR deaths/burials

I also try and find Memorial Inscriptions and Cemetery indexes & as mentioned by Frances, I have found the Wills on SP very useful

Only a proportion of OPR records contain death or mortcloth data. Where they exist then you can view them on the microfilms of the OPRs, - remember that it's possible to order these for viewing at any LDS Family History Centre.thistledew wrote:Hi
