No image.....

Post by SarahND » Fri Jan 26, 2007 11:13 pm

Hello all,
When I was in Edinburgh in October, I spent a good deal of time trying to find a birth on the OPR film. It was in the index, but I just couldn't find it on the film. Admittedly, the handwriting was terrible and the births on the film didn't appear to be in any order at all, but...

So I thought I would wait until the images came up on SP and let someone else do the finding 8)
Sadly enough, when I went back to my previous search to get the image, that one said, "No image" :( So what does this mean? That someone at some time claimed to have seen this record on that film but that neither I nor the people at SP who were linking the images can now find it?

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Sarah

I suppose there is the possibility that the quality of the original film image and therefore the scanned image was so poor that SP decided that it should not be offered for online viewing.

You should still be able to order it to be sent by post though.

It's an outside possibility and mainly to satisfy my curiosity... but I'm almost tempted to shell out the £££ just to see if they succeed in finding it!

It doesn't mean they don't have the document. It just means that they have not put the image onsite for download. If ORDER is alongside it then they do have it, just not good enough for online viewing.

Hi Sarah

Maybe you can get it from an LDS Center. They don't charge nearly as much as NAS does.

Regards

Thanks, Sheila,
Maybe I'll do that. It is not an important enough record (I don't think...) for me to pay a fortune for it.
Regards,
Sarah
