Andrew I got straight in this time from a TS email notification, so I will continue to try the old way first, before trying the back door. Keep you posted. Alan SHARP.

I have a great deal of trouble accessing the site.

Days and days pass and I can't get in.

I persevere, but wonder how many others just give up, especially newbies.

Jean

For those who have ticked the box to be logged in automatically there is no problem. For those who log on each time, then the problem exists. As given above, for those trying to log in and get the 'fatal error', the route via the FAQ page seems to work every time.

faq.php (and then click on 'board index'.)

All the best,

Thanks for the update - long suffering Andrew. For myself I prefer to manually logon to those sites that I have membership with. With broad reseasrch interests and business connections there are quite a number. Being on dial up, I jump at oportunities to use other broadband computers, when available, [at research libraries etc], but then can not remember my pass words, if they have been programmed into my computer to automatically lock in. Oh the joys of computers. Alan SHARP.

Given the major recent problems regarding access to TalkingScot, solved now as far as I can see, but wha kens as regards others, it would appear that the number of new posts on TS is so low, as to appear that that TS is moribund ........

TS is definitely NOT moribund. It has just not had these sorts of technical issues before. Not everyone has found the workaround. So yes, new posts are low just now, but that will be resolved when we are fully back up and running.
