I'm not having any luck finding the death of Christina Adam(s) born around 1820 in Govan.
I have found her on census records up until 1861 where she is with her family at 19 Albert St, Govan. I don't think she was ever married to David or the father of John and James Mc(g)rory
David Balintine 55 born Stirling (although I think he was born at Perth)
Christina Balintine 41
John McRory Balintine 15
James McRory Balintine 9
Christina Balintine 1
Margaret Adams 31
James Adams 4
David's death in 1867 was registered by a neighbour and in the 1st column it says widower of __________________ blank! I think David may have been married before.
Her daughter Christina married for the second time in 1886 and according to that Christina senior was still alive.
I have tried all sorts of permutations of names to find Christina's death but no luck.
Hopefully fresh eyes will make it simple.
Regards,
Annette

Re: Can't find death
Hmm she does seem to be immortal!
Christina Adam 71 Govan 1889 was a MCRORIE
the 77 year old in the Gorbals in 1899 was GOOLD
The Denniston one was a GIBSON, the Cumbernauld was also a WOOD
The only Christina Ballantyne of the right age died in Crawfordjohn in 1901 and her other name was Aitken.
Have you found the children in any further census records? to see if she's hiding behind another surname?

Re: Can't find death
Hi Wilma,
I knew fresh eyes would help.
As soon as I saw it I knew the Christina McRorie/Adam was right. There is no mention of David Ballantine but I know it is her because her sister registered the death.
She died on Christmas Day at Govan Poorhouse so hopefully I can her application.
Many thanks for that.
Kind regards,
Annette

Oh good, so many possible variations on all her names!
So she had been marrired to the McRory/McGrory/McRorie chap then?
