'Circles Coffee Shop', Lawnmarket, Edinburgh 1980s.

Post by doddie » Thu Jul 14, 2016 12:47 pm

This query should probably be described as very general and possibly 'off topic', so apologies in advance. I am looking for a photograph of a place where I used to work. 'Circles Coffee Shop' was located at the top of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh (the section called the Lawnmarket). Having looked on Goggle Maps I can see that where the coffee shop used to be are possibly two shops - 'House of Cashmere' and 'Clans of Scotland'. I worked at the coffee shop in about 1983/1984. The frontage was painted a chocolate brown if memory serves. I am not sure when it closed. I have become a little nostalgic of late and have tried googling it but to no avail. All help appreciated.

Regards

Well Doddie, I have searched Google, and Circles Coffee House is listed under the Edinburgh Restaurants category and is located in 324 Lawnmarket, Edinburgh, Midlothian EH1 2PQ . It can be reached at phone number 0131-225-9505.

However, when I look at the street level views, there are:
John Dennis Deliveries @ 322
The Whiskey Trail @ 323-325 (found on Google)
House of Cashmere @ 326
Clans of Scotland @ 328
Kiltane @ 330

Looking further into The Whiskey Trail page https://www.scotchwhiskyexperience.co.uk/ you will see that the Whiskey Trail also includes a restaurant. 0131 477 8477.

How strange.....I worked at 497 Lawnmarket and then at 328 Lawnmarket in the early/mid 80s!
