Good night ladies, good night ladies, goodnight ladies it's time to leave you now.

I also remember him singing:

Star of the evening
shining on the cook house door
Star of the evening
pretty little evening Star.

Hk
Dad would send the boys to their room, and then play Good Night Ladies on B's toy piano just for his wee ladies.

I also remember him singing Star of the Evening. He made sure we all joined in as we drove home in the dark after a long day spent in town.

Another song coming home was

I see the moon and the moon sees me
God made the moon and God made me
I see the moon and the moon sees me
God bless the moon and God bless me
:D :(

This kind of memory makes you happy and sad at the same time, so that's why the two faces.

ABC Minors

Post by nelmit » Sat Jan 08, 2005 11:59 am

I used to go to the Plaza cinema every Saturday morning with 6d to get in and 3d to spend. We sang this song, while following the bouncing ball, before the show started.

We are the boys and girls well known as
The Minors of the ABC
And every Saturday we line up
To see the films we like and shout along with glee
We like to laugh and have a sing-song
Just a happy crowd are we-e
We're all pals together
The Minors of the ABC

Was this only in Glasgow or did it happen elsewhere in Scotland?

Hi Annette

What happy memories you have just brought back. I remember so well signing that song every Saturday afternoon just before the picture started. We all sang it with such great gusto and hats off to you for remembering all the words. Having said that I can remeber the tune well. The cinema, in my case, was the Seamore (I think that's how it was spelt) which was on the Maryhill Road in Glasgow.

Thanks for that
