Can I Be of Any Help .....

Post by nellie17 » Wed Jun 28, 2006 11:37 am

I am at a loss with my family history but maybe i can help with yours.

I live in Australia and may be able to help in locating your australian family members.

So let me do some research seeing as my tree has come to a halt.

Nellie

Hi Nellie,

Don't know if you can help or not but my GGG GP on my Mum's side ended up in Australia, I know from other family members doing research, that Henry Learmonth from Hawick died in Areegra 27/03/1891 and his wife, Jane Broomfield died 12/06/1866 in Bullarook. I don't know what states these places are in, why these people ended up in Australia, what they did or what other family members went with them.

If you can help, that would be great :!:

Thanks
Brian

:) Now thats an offer and a half. I have been searching for a cousin who i met fleetingly way back in the 1930's. She was a nurse then and was an auxilliary during the war. She was in Australia just about when the war finished and met up with another cousin of ours who was in the Royal Navy. I do not think that my nurse cousin will still be alive but her name was Margaret Baillie, she did marry and I do not know her married name but she had children who may still be in Aussie. The cousin she met up with emigrated to Aussie after the war and is still living in Melbourne he is a Robert McFeeters and they apparently met up in Sydney where Margaret was stationed and Robert's ship pulled in. Well I don't expect you can do a lot but if anyone gets hold of this they may like to contact me as I have lots of information on the Baillie family which may be of interest to them.

Nellie

Welcome to TS - what a kind offer you have made - you say that you have come to a halt with your family tree - why don't you post some of your brick walls here - you may be surprised how helpful and resourceful everyone here is. Just give us as much details as you can.

Best regards

Ted

Hi Nellie!
What a generous offer!
Perhaps some of the "locals" here can help you, if you post some details!

Welcome Wendy:

Generous indeed! :!:

I hope that you are so overwhelmed with assistance in knocking down your brick wall that you won't have time to respond to the PM I'm sending you
