Hi I have just joined but that been browsing off and on for a few months. I think I first heard about it via Scotlandspeople. And when I got a tip that helped me find a cert on SP I had to join.

Hi Andrew,

Just joined after seeing the link on Central Scotland Family History website. Have been researching on and off for years..... first memory of NRH was standing in the dome looking up BMDs in the big old books, then waiting to be brought the fiche or microfilm!!! How times have changed, and it wasn't that long ago either !!!

Looking forward to some help and advice on some of my brickwalls.

Would be interested in help and advice on one-name studies as I seem to have looked up every Cheap/Cheape that ever existed in scotland.

Regards
Alison

Like most others, found the link to this site via Scotlands People, had lots of help since joining, and have now found, on here, a link to the Threetowners site which I am thinking will be very informative in my research.

Great site, keep it up! Regards John :D

Found you through the ScotlandsPeople site. A more addictive site than ScotlandsPeople doesn't exist, although I suspect this forum will soon be in competition for the title.

I'm reminded of Las Vegas slot machines every time I sign away for another bag o' credits at ScotlandsPeople. I enjoy their message, 'this will cost one credit - are you *sure* you want to throw it away on a whim?'. You can almost hear their software snickering, because it knows that you, at one credit click from finding out what the heck your great-great-great was up to, are going to click that button.
Old as dirt. Twice as gritty.

Hi Andrew,I suppose this is not strictly fair but it will boost your ratings.I have not been on TS for a while due to life changing circumstances May 2007.I by chance responded to an ad in Cupar (Fife) library in 2006, to learn genealogy via IT.A tall order as computers seem to dislike me.The Tutor was the most enthusiastic person in this field that i have ever met.(she is a TS behind the scenes person).I must share this with you, around about the last class,we were all asked for a name to be typed into another site, online,i shouted out this obscure French family's name, the Tutor looked at me as if to say "aye right".With the touch on the keyboard, two people were looking for my family.Impressed or what ! :D Needless to say i was hooked, lined and sinkered,David
