Wow! Thanks everyone!
I just got home after being out of the house all day and sat down at my computer to find all of your responses. Now I really have some reading to do!
I checked the directories on Ancestry last night and only found a William Munro on Burlington Rd. with a Chiswick phone number in 1927--tantalizing but probably not relavant!
Paula, George C Munro could easily be a relative. My great grandmother's maiden name was Cadenhead and Mary C Munro, the recipient of the letter, was Mary Cadenhead Munro. Also, the youngest of the Munro children was a brother named George who died just shy of his eleventh birthday. I can see William naming one of his sons after his deceased brother.
Alan, I have checked the London Times for ads for jewelers and watchmakers previously. Didn't find anything, but I could have missed one. I've also checked for weddings and obits but to no avail so far. The two children I know about are a daughter Elizabeth and a son Douglas who might be named Malcolm Douglas Munro. We have a picture of a baby named that--Malcolm was William's father's name. We have a Christmas card from Mr. and Mrs. William Munro and Douglas dated 1913 from a address of 11 Glasslyn Rd., Crouch End, N.
Audrey, I'm not familiar with a Thomas L Butler, but who knows. Maybe he was selling the house in 1940 to a Munro?! I'll keep looking for him.
Fatjock: Those are very interesting websites. I just glanced at them, now I need to go read!
Thanks many millions, everyone!

Hi again everyone!
I've been doing some more digging this morning. I went to the FreeBMD and searched for George C Munro.
Found: George C Munro born Dec 1913
Mother's Surname: Atkinsontiffin
District S. Shields
and Munro (male) Tiffin with the same district and page number but no first name.
After I finally got my computer to open the scan with the Tiff format, this is what I found:
George C Munro Tiffin S.Shields 10a 1836
Right above him was:
Edith Munro Atkinson W.Derby 8b 1082
At the bottom of the Munro entries was the Munro (male) entry
Next I went to marriages for William Munro and found:
William Munro Gateshead 10a 1375
When I clicked on the Page number:
Jane Atkinson Gateshead 10a 1375
They were married in Dec 1902
So do I take George C Munro as having Jane Atkinson as his mother and William Munro as his father and hope that Edith's mother's name and his were switched somehow or do I just go somewhere and pull out some hair!

Please don't pull any hair out, I'm sure it's better right where it is
I have looked at your FreeBMD searches, and the name Atkinson has nothing to do with 'your' George C Munro. It looks like a simple mistake by the FreeBMD transcriber. The only connection between Edith and George is that they are next to each other in alphabetical order. Their birthplaces are a long way apart.
George C Munro evidently had a twin brother who died soon after birth (there is a death entry for a 'Male' Munro aged 0 in the same quarter, in South Shields). Their mother's maiden name was definitely Tiffin. I could not see any likely marriage between a Munro and a Tiffin, but there are sorts of possible reasons for that.
I'm afraid this doesn't get you any further forward, but I hope it saves you some confusion.

Thanks Audrey!
Your explanation makes sense. It leaves me wondering what the twin's name was. Maybe I'll try to find a death certificate for him.
This also leaves me wondering who George C's father was?
I've been looking through the London Times Archives for people living on Arlington Park or Sutton Lane. Haven't found anybody relevent, but I did find Alan's "Young Lady" looking for a job as chaffeuruse (?) or secretary! I also found a man on Sutton Lane who was tried for murdering his wife, cutting her up and burying her pieces on a nearby golf course in the 1970's!
He said he got angry one day because while he was Hoovering, she was sitting in bed reading and complaining about him not doing enough work!
Thanks again!

Audrey,
Just checked the death certs. George C also is listed as 0 yrs. I wonder if the unnamed male Munro death isn't just a duplicate of George C Munro? I can't imagine carrying twins, losing both and only naming one?

Hi all and Audrey in particular!
Audrey, your Thomas L. Butler from a previous post to my question about Torquay Villa has suddenly popped up again. I was searching the passenger lists on findmypast for my great aunt Agnes Cadenhead Munro Monro and her husband David Thompson Monro because I knew that they had made at least one trip to China. David was a missionary.
I found two trips, one in 1916 by way of New York and one in 1922. For the 1922 trip, Agnes and David left from London headed for Calcultta and then China. On the passenger list they gave Mr. Butler, Torquay Villa, Arlington Park W4 as their last address in the UK!
There is a Thomas Limes Butler living at Torquay Villa in Kelly's Directory for 1911.
This means that my family was connected with Torquay Villa from 1922 to 1940, but I still don't have a clue why!!!
Good thing that I love mysteries!

Hello Carol,
The 1911 English census is due for an early release next year. That might help to clear up quite a few mysteries.

“From 2009 there will be a phased release of the information starting with the major conurbations”. I suppose London would be defined as a “major conurbation”.
