Jack,
I think you are right about Thomas being called McPhee although for some reason in later life he reverted back to Beveridge. On Thomas's marriage cert it has father David Beveridge, mother Catherine Beveridge now McPhee m.s Wright (throw in the short marriage to McGinty in 1891 and it's a right dog's breakfast!) Poor Thomas probably didn't know who he was!
From just doing a search returns she married McGinty in 1891 and he died in 1892. Thomas would have been around 7 when she married McGinty and it looks like no children to him. (i think).
I'm glad you could read the occupation of Catherine as i could not dechiper it on the marriage cert - Delph/china dealer - wonder what that entailed?
Excellent search Jack thanks - and finding Thomas in the 1891 census living with the grandparents - yet another name.
So he was a McPhee probably in his adult life - that will be interesting i wonder when he decided to change it?
Thanks again.

Always the possibility Thomas was as McPHEE in 1901 only, and that he did use BEVERIDGE as an adult.
Stepfather John just making it simpler for himself when filling in the census form.
