Hello Joyce,

good hunch about Peters!

From 1984-2004 deaths (which are searchable):
William Malcolm Peters died Sep 1984 Truro (born 19 Apr 1920), and
Eric John Peters died Dec 1986 Kerrier (born 25 Mar 1929).

Looking at the birth indexes:
William M. Peters Jun 1920 Helston, mother's maiden name Morgan;
Eric J. Peters Jun 1929 Helston, mother's maiden name Morgan.

I shall leave the others up to you. I was unable to find a marriage for Winifred between 1913 and 1922, but there is a likelihood that the marriage took place during World War 1. With your mentioning that her husband was lost at sea, it is possible that they were married abroad and indexed under Naval or Merchant Navy marriages.

Regards,

John

Hello Sarah,

just to clarify. The complete BMDs are available free of charge on Ancestry. There are 3 sets:
partial FreeBMD 1837-1983 searchable;
complete 1984-2004 searchable;
complete 1837-1983 viewable only.

FreeBMD is advancing by about 3 years in every year, so there is a long time to wait to get up to date, unless more volunteers sign up. Generally, the years to transcribe advance linearly, but with several syndicates assigned blocks of years, it is possible that an odd year's data will appear before previous years. Coverage charts are available on the FreeBMD site.

Regards,

John

Hi John,
Good to have that clarified for reference on the forum. I must admit I have never tried the viewable, but not indexed set. You'd have to be pretty dedicated to finally find the record you want, unless you can narrow down the window of time and the place sufficiently.

I'm sure Joyce will be pleased with the birth and death records you found :D But as you say, the marriages could have been anywhere. Too bad the English death records don't give more information on the parents!

All the best,
Sarah
