It worked fine for me just before I posted the thanks message above. I went back to Chris's previous post with the website link and sign in information and that got me on. :)

I've done that several times. Is anyone else having trouble?

Once you have access the website at http://access.gale.com/gdctrial/login.html , remember to type the info into the fields in the following order:

E-mail: rcc1934@aol.com
Login: virtual
Password: books

In the OP, the info I displayed was in the wrong order, which initially caught a few people out. I subsequently corrected it in a later post, but if you are going back to the OP, that might be the problem.

Good luck! :)

I was aware of that and it always worked in the past. However for some reason it has worked this time. The only difference was I clicked on the link in your latest post. [woohoo]

Thank you for that link, Chris.

I found an obituary for one of my husbands forbears, which helped to fill in a bit of detail about the family.

Hi Maggie,

Glad to help! I notice you're in Crete - my father lives in Gouves, about fifteen minutes from Heraklion! :)

Hope you're getting the weather! :)

We live at the other end of the island, near Hania.

Yes, we are getting the weather. Today is the first really hot day of the year. Up to now it's merely been very warm.

I know what Crete's version of "really warm" means - it means me wearing factor 20 sun block! :)

I recently discovered a great great uncle of mine, a soldier, had been posted to Crete at the end of the 19th C, at a place called 'Kandia'. I initially thought it was Hania, but it turns out Kandia was actually the old name for Heraklion. In any case, my lot have been going there for centuries! :) lol

Enjoy the sun!
