Scozzie

No need to fret. Someone else already beat you to the" chicken dance "and a fine job they did indeed \:D/

Regards
Marilyn

P.S. By next December it may be a few thousand members, but don't let that small fact get in your way.

Looking for: McKinlay, Robertson, Aird, Craig, Adam, Clark, Morning, Millar, Bell, Davidson & McVake
Welcome to Talking Scot , Scozzie.

Just wanted to add a wee note about the name Jessie, which may help with your searches. Jessie is very often/usually a diminutive of Janet.

By the way, one of my Greats also married into the MORNING Clan!

All the best for your research

Thanks Catriona. I know very little about my grandfather's family. I only found out recently that he had a sister. Every little snippet helps! How do you fit in with the Mornings? My great-great-grandmother was Mary Morning, she married Robert Adam.

Well, Scozzie, I suppose you could say that I'm perched on a twig at the end of one of the branches!

Mary Morning was born about 1843. Where does Thomas fit in? You're related to Marilyn too?

Hi Scozzie

Reverting to the Mckinlays, you may find this site a help and of interest. It contains masses of info about Larkhall and Dalserf. Plus there is a cd available of monumental inscriptions

Hi Aileen, & thanks! I lived in Larkhall until I was twelve, and still have family there. I found that site a while back, I've looked at just about everything on there, but nothing about my lot. There's an article on the Larkhall cemetary lairs - my grandparents are buried there, I have information re my grandfather's plot, but my numbers (which I got from the council office) don't fit in with the list. Confuzzling! I'm surprised there is no information on the "old" Academy.

McKinlay

I have to share this! I was contacted (through another site) by my father's cousin's daughter. She has given me a little bit of information about my grandfather's family. This morning she emailed me a photograph taken around 1911, when my grandfather was about 19-20. The photograph also has my great-grandparents and their six other children. I only have photo's of my grandfather taken when he was around 60 years old; I am so happy to have this one.
