Thanks for the tip!
Hi Folks,
I can't remember who posted the original tip here about the Canada - US border crossings but thank you very much whoever it was. I didn't take much heed of it at first, being at a stage where I hadn't found any ancestor for so long and not in form for searching. Anyway, during an idle moment, just clicked in and lo and behold, I found one Douglas Edward MITCHELL one of four boys born in Banchory late 19th century who had been missing for a long time. I had plagued you all on this site looking for them for some time. It gave his date of birth, his brother's address in Ontario and the name of the ship and date on which he left Scotland! O happy days! So then I found the ship's manifest to find that his mother had emigrated with him. Then I found they had been buried in Woodland Cemetery in Ontario - oh boy oh boy! Now I need to just join the Ontario Genealogical Society in order to buy the MIs and I hope this will start me off filing in another branch of the tree. This has given me a great lift (not in great form, adult children can drive one to drink!) so keep up the good work all of you on this site.

Re: U.S.-Canadian Border Crossing Records on Ancestry
Hi Anne and Sarah,
I am obviously arriving very late to the conversation you were having on the Daniel Scullon and Sarah Murray - just ran across it last night with a Google search. So I'm sure you have probably found out a lot since 2007.
I am the great great granddaughter of Daniel Scullon and Mary Halloran (Daniel's second wife) through Daniel and Mary's daughter Margaret, who married John McArdle.
I have been doing some research off and on in the past two years and have obtained copies of death certificates for Daniel Scullon and Mary Halloran, and for Charles; Agnes, Mary, and John (Daniel's children with Sarah Murray); and Margaret and James (Daniel's and Mary's children). I also have death certificates for William Hinds and Gertrude Hinds, who were Mary Halloran's children with William HInds, her first husband.
I haven't been able to track down Daniel's two youngest with Sarah - Sarah and Daniel. I believe that Sarah married a William Johnson and lived in Minnesota in 1916, when Daniel died, per his obituary in a news clipping my grandmother had. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of Sarah Johnsons in Minnesota at the time so haven't been able to identify her.
I would love to connect with you and trade information!

Hi Natalie and a warm welcome to TalkingScot!
Well, this is one from the past - I haven't worked on the Scullions for a long time! Let me get my 'Scullion' cap on again and I'll contact you by pm.
Absolutely wonderful to hear from you.
Regards,
Anne H

Thanks Anne! I was very excited to come across some connections with the Scullon family. I'm anxious to hear how we are connected.
