=D> Welcome Natalie! Great to have some more information on this family. So Gertrude was Mary's daughter by her first husband-- I wondered about that and am glad to have it confirmed. Any ideas when and where Sarah Murray died? I tried to find her death when I was in St Paul and they had no record of it. It's one of those record offices where you can't search yourself, but have to watch while they search... and don't find. Very frustrating! It is a bit early for existing records in that neck of the woods.

[cheers]
Sarah

A friend recently found a record at FamilySearch for a Sarah Sculhon who died April 3, 1891 in St. Paul and we think that is her. Silly me - I forgot to try to obtain the death certificate. I will request it through the historical society and see if they can come up with it. Daniel remarried in 1893.

WOW - I think I might have found a death record for Sarah and a birth for an unnamed female child which could be the Sarah who may have been adopted by the McCarthy's. No images to go along with the information though.

Oh nice! =D> I did not have Sarah Scullon McCarthy's actual marriage - only a reference to the name of her husband. Thank you!!!!!

Well now...looks like I just found Gertrude's birth and marriage. Her full name is Ellen Gertrude Hinds on the certificate and she seems to have made herself a few years older than she was (according to all the census records). Here she is on family search...

parents: William Heins, Mary

parents: Mary Hollarn
spouse: George W. Segerman

name: George W. Segerman
event: Marriage
event date: 24 Oct 1910
event place: Helena, Lewis and Clark, Montana
age: 37
marital status: Widowed
race: White
birthplace: Leavenworth, Kansas
estimated birth year: 1873
father: Luis Segerman
spouse: Ellen Gertrude Hinds
spouse's age: 27
spouse's marital status: Single

spouse's birthplace: Tracy, Minn.
spouse's estimated birth year: 1883

There is also a birth for a male child born 1887.

Oh dear, maybe not! I've just found another Gertrude Hinds on the 1895 census...now I'm confused. Too late and much too tired, so better go to bed and look at everything tomorrow with fresh eyes.
