Recently, I emailed the Aberdeen City archives looking for information on the gravesite of my 2x great grandmother Sophia Chalmers Clerihew. Fiona Musk has been working on it and this morning I received the information.
She was unable to locate Sophia anywhere in the Aberdeen cemetery records, but she did find a George Clerihew who could be Sophia's husband. I haven't been able to find any information on him, but I did have Sophia death certificate. She also located some other Clerihews, all buried in St. Peter's cemetery. The only problem is Fiona located a Mary Clerihew who doesn't belong in my branch of the family! She has referred me to the burials department for more information and the location of the graves as burials holds the location maps, not the archives.
A big Thank You to Fiona and the archives! I wouldn't be able to get this information otherwise.
I'm going have another cup of coffee and try to figure out what to do next with this family of mine!
Carol

Hi Carol:
Frances
Excellent response to your query, and it's good to know that the burials department is the contact. Perhaps you could post that contact info for the use of other posters future reference? She has referred me to the burials department for more information and the location of the graves as burials holds the location maps, not the archives.

Hi Frances,
The address for the burials department is: burialsATaberdeencity.gov.uk
The address for the archives is: archivesATaberdeencity.gov.uk
It took about three weeks to get the final answer. They sent a confirmation after about two weeks. I'm sure they are short of staff like many other city departments these days.
