Post by stigweard » Sun Jun 12, 2005 4:48 pm

 Hi I need help, no truly I do. My sister and I are researching our family tree we can go backwards on our dad's side to:-
Alexander Campbell C1823 Latheron Married to Janet Taylor also from Latheron, they married in Wick in 1845 and had 9 children some of whom we have marriages and children for but then we get stuck.
So please please if anyone thinks they can help us get in touch.[/b]

You have more than likely had a look at the follow possible parents of Janet and Alexander in IGI.
But I thought I would post it as others on the forum may recognise some of the people, and be able to shed some light on your searching.

I have only selected the ones that closely match the possible 1823 birth dates, and those that were born in Latheron Caithness, as the general mobility of people at the time would indicate that they were local to the area, as were their parents.
In all of the IGI entries there is no mention of the mother, only the father!
I have also included possible marriages for possible parents, again based on them residing in Latheron Caithness.
All are extracted entries.

Alexander Campbell Chr. 17 June 1822 Latheron, Caithness F. William Campbell
Alexander Campbell Chr. 31 Jan 1823 Latheron, Caithness. F. Alexander Campbell
Alexander Campbell Chr. 30 May 1823 Latheron, Caithness. F. David Campbell

William Campbell m Jane Munro 07 Jan 1819, Latheron Caithness
William Campbell m Helen Campbell 28 Dec 1820

Alexander Campbell m Margaret Bruce 12 Feb 1807 Latheron Caithness
Alexander Campbell m Margaret Taylor 08 Jan 1808 Latheron Caithness
Alexander Campbell m Janet McDonald 21 Mar 1809 Latheron Caithness

David Campbell m Janet Forbes 04 Feb 1820 Latheron Caithness
David Campbell m Christian Sutherland 13 Apr 1820 Latheron Caithness

Janet Taylor Chr. 23 Oct 1819 Latheron, Caithness. F. George Taylor
Janet Taylor Chr. 09 Dec 1823 Latheron, Caithness. F. George Taylor
It is possible that this is the same father, and that the first Janet died young.
There is also a possible marriage between George Taylor and Ann Sinclair on 10 May 1811 in Latheron, Caithness. But a children’s search produces no result for this pair in Cathness.

So it is possible they werent "registered" so to speak.
